BBQ night & Bike-A-Thon

This fall semester, Rides For Lives @ Berkeley presented a BBQ event and another Bike-A-Thon, during which students were sponsored to compete in a race to raise money for our new bicycle ambulance to be built in Uganda.

The social event took place at the ATO rooftop and began at 3pm. Students, especially our officers had a fun and chill moment with the Berkeley sunset.

Our goal for the end of the academic year is to raise a total of $10,000 to fund a mobile health clinic like pictured on RidesForLives.org. By working together, we hope to increase awareness about access to healthcare in the developing world. It will bring the students of Berkeley one step closer to being a part of the solution.

Five teams, one race

BIKE for charity! 5 teams, represented by various campus clubs, spent 4 hours biking (road bicycles on bicycle trainers) on Sproul to help fundraise for CA Bikes. We also sold Cheeseboard piazza with all the money we raised going to CA Bikes.

Competitors included the ATO’s team, the Aquadelt’s team, the Kappa’s team and the Cal Cycling team. The winner was the Cal Cycling Team, who raised over $500 while the other teams each managed to raise $250 or more!

UC Berkeley Bike Party

UC Berkeley’s first official bike party. We started at Krober fountain, and biked around Berkeley and through campus before looping back around to Krober fountain to party with music and conclude with a presentation by CA Bikes explaining the non-profit organization that collects bikes to for victims of illness and poverty in Uganda.
